2025 Seminar on Standards for Disposable Paper-based Hygiene Products held in China Nanjing On May 27-28, the “2025 Seminar on Promoting and Training Related Standards for Disposable Paper-based Hygiene Products”, hosted by National Technical Committee 141 on Papermaking Industry of Standardization Administration of China and jointly organized by CNPPRI, Tongling Jieya Biotechnology Co., Ltd, and Sinolight (Jinjiang) Hygiene Products Research Co., Ltd., was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu. China Tsinghua Team and China Youthful form strategic partnership for bioenzyme technology commercialization On May 21, signing ceremony of strategic cooperation between Shenzhen Synthera Co., Ltd. and Guangdong Youthful Medical Products Co., Ltd. and Tsinghua Experts’ Two-Way Walk in the Bay Area Event were successfully held in Jiujiang Town, Nanhai District, Foshan, Guangdong. The two companies formalized an agreement to jointly develop bioenzyme-based antibacterial nonwoven fabric technology. The Tsinghua research team has innovatively integrated eco-friendly, skin-safe bioenzymes with nonwoven materials, overcoming challenges in enzyme stability.

Pulp and Tissue Parent Roll Prices in Major Regional Markets of China in April 2025The specific changes in pulp prices in April 2025 are as follows: for wood pulp materials, Hebei bleached hardwood pulp boards (imported) were priced at 4,475 yuan per ton, while softwood pulp boards (imported) reached 5,543 yuan per ton. Guangxi Bleached hardwood pulp boards (imported) were 4,550 yuan per ton, while bleached eucalyptus wet pulp (absolute dry) was sold at a price of 4,575 yuan per ton. Among non-wood pulp materials, Guangxi bleached bagasse wet pulp (absolute dry) stood at 4,100 yuan per ton, while Sichuan-Chongqing bleached bamboo pulp boards at 5,675 yuan per ton and Sichuan-Chongqing natural color bamboo pulp boards at 4,850 yuan per ton.Meanwhile, prices of tissue parent roll declined in major regional markets. For wood pulp tissue parent roll, Hebei bleached wood pulp tissue parent roll was 6,050 yuan per ton, while Guangxi bleached wood pulp tissue parent roll was 6,575 yuan per ton. Among the non-wood pulp tissue parent roll, the price of bleached bamboo pulp tissue parent roll in Sichuan-Chongqing was 6,588 yuan per ton. Meanwhile, the prices of Sichuan-Chongqing natural color bamboo pulp tissue parent roll and Guangxi bleached bagasse pulp base paper both settled at 6,050 yuan per ton.

The import and export of tissue paper and hygiene products in China in the first quarter of 2025 In the first quarter of 2025, China’s tissue paper exports reached 354,500 tons, up 13.07% from the same period in 2024, while the export value of $560 million fell by 9.51% year-on-year, showing an increasing volume but decreasing price trend. Total imports of tissue paper were small, at only 7,757.52 tons, less than 10,000 tons.The total export volume of absorbent hygiene products was 407,500 tons, and the export value was $1.073 billion, representing year-on-year growth of 17.08% and 10.82% respectively. Imports of absorbent hygiene products remained low, with a total import volume of 5,693.63 tons and a total import value of $45.0968 million, having little impact on the domestic consumer market.The export volume of wet wipes was 215,400 tons, an increase of 12.82% compared with the same period in 2024, and the export value of wet wipes reached $313 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.32%. Total imports of wet wipes still remained low, at only 5,932.6 tons, with an import value of approximately $37.2047 million. The domestic production capacity and variety of wet wipes can already meet market demand.

In the first quarter of 2025, China added 409,000 tons of new capacity for tissue paper, remaining almost unchanged in terms of capacity increase compared with the same period last yearAccording to the research by the Secretariat of CNHPIA Secretariat, from January to March 2025, the tissue paper industry put into operation about 409,000 tons of new annual capacity annually, including 15 tissue machines, with 12 domestic and 3 imported ones. Compared with the same period last year (428,000 tons annually), the newly added capacity this year remains almost the same. The Secretariat of CNHPIA also collected data on projects announced by enterprises. From the second to the fourth quarter of 2025, the industry plans to add about 1 million tons of modernized capacity annually. In addition, the total planned capacity for projects to be launched in 2026 and beyond exceeds 9 million tons annually. Currently, the industry has sufficient capacity and faces fierce market competition. Therefore, enterprises are advised to be more cautious in future investments.
