744,000 tpy of new tissue capacity launched in the first half of 2025—the production capacity increase was slightly higher compared with the same period last year

According to figures compiled by CNHPIA, about 744,000 tpy new modern capacity launched between January and June 2025. The additions came from 28 machines—21 China-made and 7 imported. First-quarter start-ups totaled 409,000 tpy, while second-quarter start-ups added 335,000 tpy. CNHPIA’s latest compilation of publicly announced projects indicates that more than 500,000 tpy of modern capacity is scheduled to start up in the second half of 2025. Meanwhile, several projects originally slated for the second half of 2025 have been deferred to 2026, pushing the combined capacity now planned for 2026 and beyond to over 10 million tpy.
