On July 20, Jining Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment publicized the acceptance of the environmental impact assessment documents for the technical upgrade project with an output of 450,000 tpy of natural cellulose and supporting facilities undertaken by Shandong Sun Paper (Honghe) Co., Ltd. The project plans to invest RMB 1 billion in the technical transformation of natural cellulose production lines. Relying on the upgraded production platform, the company will manufacture high-end products including acetate fiber and fluff pulp, as well as medium-Kappa unbleached pulp applicable to high-grade packaging paper. It will foster an independent innovation system covering the whole industrial chain from raw materials to end applications, and build a competitive innovation base for bio-based materials.
